Congratulations to Simon Tibbs who was ordained last Sunday as a priest of the Scottish Episcopal Church. Simon has been curate of Old St. Paul's Edinburgh for the past nine months, and last Sunday's do was effectively taking off Simon's L-plates and confirming Simon as a fully-fledged priest.

Simon comes from a line of Anglican clergymen - his grandfather was the Bishop of Johannnesburg and anti-apartheid campaigner Ambrose Reeve, and his father is at All Saints Bedford. Simon himself has been gearing up for this for years, so finally he has reached his vocation.

The ordination mass was a blast of Widor's Messe Solenelle and a jukebox of whoopee hymns. The next day, he celebrated his first Mass - although minus the wine, due to swine flu restrictions!
